Police speak on abducted Lagos fire service chief, others

The Lagos State Commissioner of
Police, Mr Zubairu Muazu, says all
hands are on deck to ensure the
safe return of the Director of the
State Fire Service, Mr Rasaki
Musibau, and others abducted in the state on Saturday.

DAILY POST recalls that Musibau
and six others were abducted by
unknown gunmen on Saturday at
about 8.00pm on Iwoye Bridge, on
Itoikin-Epe Road…

But speaking to journalists shortly
after the state Security Council
meeting chaired by Gov.
Akinwunmi Ambode in Alausa,
Ikeja, on Tuesday, Muazu said
that everything necessary was being done to secure their
release.

According to him, security
agencies are working round the
clock to rescue them safely.

He expressed optimism of
positive result soon, but declined
to give further details on the
ongoing operation to rescue the
victims.

“I confirm that there was
incident of kidnapping involving
the state Director of Fire Service
and all the security agencies in
the state are working toward the
safe release of the victims.

“For now, this is all I need to
reveal about the kidnap, but we
are working to ensure their safe
return,” the CP said.

Muazu said all security agencies
were working seriously to put a
stop to a likely return of
kidnapping to the state, adding
that there was nothing to worry
about, NAN quoted him as saying.

Commenting on the meeting, the
CP said that the council also
extensively reviewed the
security situation in the state.

He said that the government and
security agencies had resolved to
beef up security in the state
following the renewed wave of
crime and to ensure smooth and
peaceful transition of government to the incoming administration.
